1 Peter 4: 10 -11 (NIV)
“Each one should use whatever gifts he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”
Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”
Help your students understand the role of a host / hostess. Facilitate conversations about guests they may have had in their home, what was done to serve those guests, how the guests may have felt, how the host may have felt.
Look for authentic opportunities for your students to be hosts / hostesses:
- Guest students in the classroom
- Reading buddies
- Parent / volunteers in the school
- Supply teachers
Discuss the differences between “entertaining” and “Christ-like hospitality”.
Take a deeper dive into the Parable of the Good Samaritan. (Luke 10) Who showed hospitality?
What does it mean to “Love your neighbor as yourself?” (Lev. 19:18, James 2:8)
